The elements of this still life scattered across the foreground give the viewer a glimpse into the history of Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. The entire painting is intended to give the viewer a quick, visual insight to what makes this region of the state special to those that live there. The photographs and objects composing the still life reference notable people, places, industries and recreational activities that have all woven together over nearly two centuries to create the tapestry of this rural county in northern PA.

This project was sponsored and funded by the Sullivan County School District.

Detail shot. The little girl in the mid-ground is my daughter. She was 3 at the time. The man fishing is my uncle Gary Laidacker. He was a teacher at Sullivan County Elementary School for 42 years before retiring in the mid 2000’s.
