I collaborated with my friend and fellow Philadelphia muralist Phillip Adams for Our City, Our Team. The project is the second largest mural in the city behind How Philly Moves and was completed in roughly 10 months.

Phil and I worked very hard during the early stages of design on this project to create a piece that not only celebrated a team that has the hearts of an entire city, but also to tell the story of the history of the franchise. After a few iterations of designs exploring the development of the Eagles, it became apparent that the Administration was simply looking for a giant poster to advertise the team. So, in the end, they got a very well executed, 27,000 poster.

Luckily for Phil and myself we had a fantastic group of very talented assistant artists and had a great time over the winter of ‘14/’15 working in the studio. And, we were able to get over 500 fans and community members involved in the creation of the painting.

This project was sponsored and funded by The Philadelphia Eagles and Mural Arts Philadelphia.

A look at the process

This is a shot from one of four public paint days held at Lincoln Financial Field. Between all four we had over 1,000 volunteer painters lend a hand in the creation of the painting.

Paint Day.

The palette station is the beating heart of the paint day. The whole job of the station attendant is to make sure all the 5 oz. cups stay filled with its corresponding, numbered color. They are busy the entire time.

Studio Detail.

This is the printed design for the mural. It was so long that we had to cut it into thirds so it would fit comfortably in our studio. All the x’s represent completed sheets of the mural. This mural is composed of 657 sheets of polytab.
